There are restaurants in Las Vegas people plan entire vacations around.
Celebrity chefs. Steakhouses. Tasting menus. Places where the plate looks like an art project and somehow costs more than my first blackjack buy-in.
Greenberg’s Deli isn’t any of that.
It’s a deli counter inside New York-New York, and I legitimately think about their sandwiches before I even get on the plane.
I’ve eaten at Greenberg’s at least five times now, and since discovering it, I haven’t taken a Vegas trip without stopping there at least once.
Sometimes two or three times.
At this point, Greenberg’s isn’t just somewhere I eat in Vegas.
It’s part of the trip.

I Found Greenberg’s While I Was in Vegas Getting Married
I first ate at Greenberg’s in 2023.
Nikki and I were staying at Luxor because we were in Las Vegas getting married.
Because apparently nothing says lifelong commitment like spending part of your wedding trip gambling inside New York-New York.
I had been playing in the NYNY casino when I decided I needed something to eat. I ended up at Greenberg’s, ordered a turkey club, and that was pretty much it.
Greenberg’s immediately became one of those places I knew I was coming back to.
If you want to know what I think about the hotel where that trip started, I wrote a full Luxor Las Vegas review after staying there and spending plenty of time around the property.
Now every time I go to Vegas, I somehow end up back at that same deli counter.
There are casinos I skip.
There are restaurants I’ve eaten at once and never thought about again.
I have never skipped Greenberg’s since I found it.
I Actually Go Out of My Way to Eat Here
There are plenty of Vegas restaurants I like if I happen to be nearby.
Greenberg’s is different.
I will actually go to New York-New York specifically because I want the sandwich.
That probably tells you more about how much I like this place than any restaurant rating ever could.
A lot of the time, it becomes one of my first food stops after landing in Las Vegas.
I’ll spend weeks thinking about gambling, blackjack, hotel comps and everything I want to do on the trip.
Apparently somewhere in there I’m also thinking:
I need that turkey sandwich.
When we took our boys to Vegas, Greenberg’s was the first food we ate after landing. Logan went there with me, and he and Nikki split a sandwich.
That trip also reminded me how differently someone can experience Vegas on their first visit, which is exactly what I wrote about in Bringing a First-Timer to Las Vegas.
Me?
No.
I’m eating the entire sandwich myself.
My Order: The Turkey Club
The old version of this article called my sandwich a Turkey Rachel at one point.
I have no idea where that came from.
I’ve always known it as the turkey club.
And honestly, I don’t need to experiment anymore.
I’ve found my sandwich.
The thing is stacked, filling and ridiculously good.
Greenberg’s serves the kind of sandwich where you pick it up and immediately understand you’re not dealing with some sad little casino food-court lunch.
There is actual substance to it.
The turkey is piled high with bacon, lettuce and tomato, and somehow, despite the size of the thing, I don’t feel terrible after eating it.
That last part matters more than it probably should.
Somehow This Is My “Healthy” Vegas Meal
I use the word healthy very loosely here.
I’m not pretending a massive deli sandwich suddenly turned me into a nutrition influencer.
But compare Greenberg’s to a lot of the stuff I normally eat while I’m in Vegas.
Pizza.
Burgers.
Fries.
Late-night greasy food after drinking and gambling.
After eating Greenberg’s, I genuinely feel better than I do after most of those meals.
It’s filling without making me feel like I need to lie down for three hours afterward.
And when I’m walking miles around casinos all day, that’s actually pretty valuable.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned after enough Vegas trips is that spending more money doesn’t automatically make something better. I talk about that same philosophy in How I Make My Vegas Money Go Further Without Gambling More.
A good Vegas trip isn’t about spending the most money possible. It’s about spending it on the things you actually care about.
I’d rather have this sandwich than a lot of expensive Strip restaurant meals.
The New York-New York Setting Makes It Better
I like New York-New York.
I’ve never actually stayed there, so I can’t tell you what the rooms are like yet.
Nikki has looked at the pool and basically determined it doesn’t look all that impressive, which isn’t exactly helping NYNY climb her hotel list.
But I really enjoy the casino and the property itself.
The whole fake New York street setup works on me.
Greenberg’s sits inside the Village Street Eateries area, surrounded by New York-New York’s indoor version of a New York neighborhood.
Is it cheesy?
Probably.
It’s Las Vegas.
That’s half the fun.
Sitting there eating a giant deli sandwich while a casino is basically around the corner somehow makes complete sense.
I Couldn’t Even Tell You What I Pay
Normally this is the part of the review where I’d tell you exactly what my meal costs.
I can’t.
Not because Greenberg’s is giving me free sandwiches.
I wish.
It’s because every time I eat there, I charge it to my MGM room.
I don’t even really look at the total.
That sounds a little irresponsible now that I’ve typed it out.
But there is a reason I do it.
When I’m staying with MGM, I try to put eligible resort spending on the room instead of paying for everything separately. That way my gambling and resort spending are tied together, and I can check at the end of the trip to see whether any charges can be covered with comps or rewards.
If you’re trying to understand how much play MGM actually expects from higher-tier players, I broke down the numbers in How Much Do You Have to Gamble to Reach MGM Gold?.
I’m not saying you should spend more money just to earn comps.
Don’t do that.
That’s how casinos win twice.
I’m saying if I’m already buying the sandwich anyway, I might as well make sure MGM knows I spent the money.
Are the Sandwiches Big Enough to Split?
Absolutely.
Nikki and Logan split one.
That is a completely reasonable thing for two normal human beings to do.
I am apparently not one of those people.
I finish mine.
Every time.
That’s also part of why I think Greenberg’s works well for families or couples who aren’t trying to spend a fortune on multiple Strip meals.
If you don’t eat like I do, splitting one is a legitimate option.
The Convenience Is a Huge Part of Why I Love It
Vegas has plenty of restaurants where eating becomes an event.
Reservations.
Dress codes.
Waiting for a table.
Sitting down for an hour and a half.
There are times when that’s great.
Most of the time, I’d rather eat and get back to doing Vegas.
Greenberg’s is counter service.
Order the sandwich.
Get the sandwich.
Eat the sandwich.
Go back to gambling.
Beautiful system.
There is no need to plan your entire night around dinner.
And if you’ve just landed and you’re trying to squeeze every possible minute out of the trip, that’s even better.
Who Greenberg’s Is Perfect For
I could probably make this section really complicated.
I’m not going to.
Greenberg’s is perfect for people like me and anybody who really loves a good sandwich.
You don’t have to care about celebrity chefs.
You don’t need a reservation.
You don’t need dinner to become a three-hour production.
You just need to want a giant, really good deli sandwich.
It also makes a lot of sense if you’re already visiting New York-New York, Park MGM, Excalibur or the southern end of the Strip.
Although apparently location doesn’t matter much to me because I’ll go out of my way for it anyway.
Who Should Skip Greenberg’s?
If part of your Vegas vacation is specifically about having a celebrity-chef dining experience, Greenberg’s probably isn’t what you’re looking for.
Nobody is bringing out a tiny plate with six decorative dots of sauce.
There isn’t going to be dramatic lighting when your sandwich arrives.
It’s a deli.
That’s the whole point.
And that’s exactly why I love it.
Is Greenberg’s Deli Worth Going Out of Your Way For?
For me?
Yes. Easily.
I already do.
I don’t mean I’ll stop if I’m walking through NYNY.
I mean I’ll deliberately go to New York-New York because I want Greenberg’s.
There aren’t many restaurants in Vegas I can say that about.
I’ve eaten expensive meals.
I’ve eaten at steakhouses.
I’ve eaten enough bad food-court meals to know better.
And somehow one of the meals I look forward to most is still a turkey club from a deli inside a casino.
That’s pretty much the perfect Double Down Mac restaurant recommendation.
No hype.
No fancy nonsense.
Just really good food that I genuinely spend the rest of the year thinking about.
That same value-first mentality is why I’m always looking for ways to stretch a Vegas trip further. Sometimes that means comps, and sometimes it means things like the deals I covered in my Las Vegas Advisor Coupon Book review.
Double Down Mac Verdict
10/10.
I don’t have some clever criticism to add just so the review looks more balanced.
I love Greenberg’s.
The food is great.
The portions are huge.
It’s convenient.
I love the New York-New York environment.
I can charge it to my MGM room.
And it has become one of the few places I consider mandatory on every Vegas trip.
My first visit happened almost accidentally while gambling at NYNY during the trip where Nikki and I got married.
Now I plan around going back.
That’s about as strong of a recommendation as I can give anything.
If you see a guy sitting there finishing an entire turkey sandwich while his wife responsibly splits one with somebody else, there’s a decent chance you’ve found me.
Frequently Asked Questions About Greenberg’s Deli Las Vegas
Where Is Greenberg’s Deli in Las Vegas?
Greenberg’s Deli is located inside New York-New York Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip in the resort’s Village Street area.
What Kind of Food Does Greenberg’s Deli Serve?
Greenberg’s specializes in New York-style deli food, including large sandwiches, toasted sandwiches and traditional deli sides.
What Sandwich Do I Recommend at Greenberg’s?
The turkey club.
I’ve ordered it repeatedly, and at this point I don’t even feel the need to try something different.
When you’ve found your sandwich, you’ve found your sandwich.
Are Greenberg’s Sandwiches Big?
Yes. Nikki and Logan have split one before.
I eat the entire thing myself, but I don’t necessarily recommend using me as your portion-control benchmark.
Is Greenberg’s Good for a Quick Meal?
Absolutely. It’s one of the main reasons I like it. You can grab a real meal without committing a huge chunk of your Vegas day to a sit-down restaurant.
Can I Charge Greenberg’s to My MGM Room?
When I’m staying at an eligible MGM Resorts property, that’s how I personally handle my Greenberg’s purchases. I put eligible spending on the room so everything is together when I check my comps at the end of the trip.
Is Greenberg’s Worth Visiting If I’m Not Staying at New York-New York?
I think so.
I’ve never stayed at NYNY, and I still go out of my way to eat there on every Vegas trip.
Is Greenberg’s Deli Expensive?
It’s on the Las Vegas Strip, so I wouldn’t expect neighborhood-deli pricing.
I honestly don’t pay much attention to the exact total because I usually charge it to my MGM room. What I can tell you is the portions are large enough that Nikki and Logan have split a sandwich before.
Would I Eat at Greenberg’s Again?
Considering I’ve gone back every Vegas trip since discovering it, sometimes two or three times on the same trip, I think that answer is pretty obvious.
Yes.
Probably shortly after I land.
